WASHINGTON, November 2. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States may take further action against Iran if no agreement is reached with the Islamic Republic.

"The only reason why I'm not finished with Iran is I want to be nice. I want to try and save all those lives if I can," he told supporters. "But at some point, we're going to have to give them the hammer," Trump said speaking at a rally for Republican supporters in the state of Iowa, ahead of the midterm congressional elections.

Prior to the rally, Trump also told reporters regarding the conflict with Iran: "We'll put it away very soon, one way or the other. Either they'll make a deal or we'll just end it, end it the, I guess you could say, maybe the easy way." He provided no further details.

On October 8, Trump stated that the US had no intention of launching strikes against Iran before the midterm congressional elections, scheduled for November 3. On Saturday, he asserted that negotiations with Tehran were progressing well, though he expressed skepticism regarding Iran’s trustworthiness. He also declined to give a definitive answer when asked whether he planned to resume military action against the Islamic Republic next week. According to the news outlet Axios, Trump does not intend to resume military operations against Iran immediately following the midterm elections, as he prefers to focus on negotiations with Tehran.
