British police detain seventh suspect in supposed terror plot at Fairford base

A 22-year-old British citizen was detained on Tuesday in the London borough of Westminster

LONDON, October 6. /TASS/. British law enforcement authorities have detained a seventh suspect in an alleged terror plot at the Fairford military airbase, BBC quoted a counter-terrorism police official as saying.

It said that a 22-year-old British citizen was detained on Tuesday in the London borough of Westminster.

On September 27, five people aged between 23 and 25, all residents of London, were detained in the vicinity of the Fairford air base in Gloucestershire in western England. They were released on bail the next day, despite initial suspicions that they had violated laws on explosives and terrorism. Police later said that they had not found explosives in their vans.

On October 1, a 25-year-old man with dual British-Iranian citizenship was detained in central London under the law on combating terrorism. He was also later released on bail.

The Fairford base was used by the US Air Force for attacks on Iran. The Pentagon returned the B-1 strategic bombers stationed there to the United States.
