NEW YORK, June 25. /TASS/. The US presidential administration has requested $87.6 billion in additional funding from Congress, including for a war with Iran, CNBC reported.
According to the TV channel, Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought sent the request to House Speaker Mike Johnson. The document said that the Pentagon needs $21 billion to purchase ammunition and bolster the US industrial base. An additional $1.4 billion was requested to combat the Ebola virus and $768 million to ensure nuclear and energy security.
The document also noted the need for $10 billion to support American farmers, $500 million for restoration and construction projects in Washington DC, and $1 billion for the renovation of a train station in New York City.
According to CNBC, the need to vote in favor of funding "an unpopular war" could create a difficult political situation for Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
