Trump says Iran agreeing to all US demands

The US president says Tehran has to do it "otherwise we just go back and do what we have to do"

WASHINGTON, June 24 /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said Iran is agreeing to all of Washington's demands.

"Iran is being very nice. They're agreeing to everything that I want, and they have to, otherwise we just go back and do what we have to do," Trump told reporters at the US Capitol.

The president visited Capitol Hill for a meeting with Republican Senate leaders, focused primarily on preparations for the upcoming midterm elections in November.

"I see that oil just broke the $70 [a barrel] number. Who would have thought that was going to happen? And that's during a war," Trump added.

The US and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28. Earlier this month, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. On June 21-22, US-Iran talks on implementing the memorandum took place at the Swiss resort of Burgenstock, with mediation from Doha and Islamabad.

According to a joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar after the first round of negotiations, the meeting between Iranian and US representatives took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere. The parties made encouraging progress, including laying the groundwork for further technical consultations.
