Slovakia not to send its troops to Ukraine, parliament speaker vows

"On the contrary, we will insist that the only way to end the bloodshed is to have courage to begin peace talks between the warring parties," Peter Pellegrini said

BUDAPEST, March 11. /TASS/. Slovakia will never send a single soldier to Ukraine, visiting speaker of Slovakia’s parliament Peter Pellegrini said after a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"Slovakia has made a decision that it will not send a single soldier to Ukraine in any event. And this is despite the criticism of this sovereign position of ours. On the contrary, we will insist that the only way to end the bloodshed is to have courage to begin peace talks between the warring parties," he said.

Slovakia and Hungary have similar positions on the conflict in Ukraine. The Slovak government stopped military assistance to Kiev from the national reserves and the army warehouses.

According to Pellegrini, Bratislava and Budapest plan to invigorate cooperation in all spheres, with a special focus on nuclear energy.
