MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin commended efforts being made by Qatar toward resolving the conflict between Palestine and Israel at a meeting with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Moscow.

"It would be vital to discuss issues surrounding hotspots today. We are aware that Qatar has been making very serious efforts toward resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," the Russian leader said. "Unfortunately, initiatives, including those put forward by you, have not been implemented, and civilians keep dying in Palestine," Putin lamented.

According to him, Russia and Qatar share a similar vision of how a lasting peace could be achieved, referring to the idea of establishing a Palestinian state based on a UN decision.
