It was reported earlier, over 90% of the LPR had been liberated from the Ukrainian forces

LUGANSK, March 29. /TASS/. The People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) has liberated 94 towns in the LPR as well as the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) since February 24, the People’s Militia said in a statement Tuesday.

"The forces of the LPR’s People’s Militia have liberated 94 towns in the LPR and DPR. Several areas remain under the Ukrainian force’s control," the statement reads.

It was reported earlier, over 90% of the LPR had been liberated from the Ukrainian forces. There are still some armed Ukrainian groups in the liberated territories, and the People’s Militia forces continue to mop them up.

Tensions escalated along the line of contact in eastern Ukraine on February 17. The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR, LPR) reported the heaviest shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in months. There are civilian casualties, residential buildings and civilian infrastructure suffer damages daily.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for aid from the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories and the goal was to demilitarize and denazify the country.
