TASS launches Spanish-language news feed

Particular attention will be paid to Russia's interaction with the Spanish-speaking countries of Europe, Latin America, in addition to the nations of Africa and the Asia-Pacific region

MOSCOW, July 1. /TASS/. TASS News Agency is ushering in its Spanish News Service for the Spanish-speaking world community. Particular attention will be paid to Russia's interaction with the Spanish-speaking countries of Europe, Latin America, in addition to the nations of Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, TASS Department of Corporate Communications reported.

TASS General Director Sergei Mikhailov emphasized that a unique characteristic of TASS news is its objectivity and accuracy, which are guaranteed by the agency's long-standing, impeccable reputation in the professional community. "Today, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TASS receive numerous requests from Russian embassies, foreign media, representatives of the political and financial establishments to receive news reflecting the Russian point of view specifically in their national language. Currently, this demand is met by foreign media offering only one side of the story, often hostile to both Russia and the people of the countries themselves. That is why TASS has decided to expand its foreign-language news wire service," Mikhailov said.

This newswire will be ushered in through two stages: from July 1, it will be released from 10:00 am to 02:00 am Moscow time, and from September 1 - around the clock.

Access to TASS Spanish News Service is free of charge. It will be launched on the modern, top-notch TASS News Terminal (terminal.tass.ru)

The service will include news, news flashes and breaking news, interviews, expert commentaries, biographies, dossiers, press reviews and daily summaries reflecting the current Russian and world news agenda. The main subjects are social and political, financial and economic news, security and the military-industrial complex, science, space, culture and sports news, events in post-Soviet countries and the EAEU, as well as informative and entertaining content.

As Mikhail Petrov, TASS Deputy General Director and Editor-in-Chief, "the competitive edge of TASS news feeds in foreign languages lies in the strict and unbiased selection of topics, high quality translation, as well as a balanced approach to presenting the material. The agency trusts only verified information sources, quotes all materials and chooses topics that meet TASS editorial standards, without descending to the level of the tabloid press in pursuit of an audience. As a result, subscribers receive a relevant, unbiased information product, which is based on facts rather than speculation, distinguishing TASS from our competitors," he said.

The new product is released by the TASS Spanish news team, which includes Spanish native speakers as well as professional translators. This will ensure the speedy, high-quality translation of news. TASS plans to expand the number of news feeds in foreign languages in the future.
