MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Blogger Alexey Navalny will be taken to Moscow’s Babushkinsky Court for hearings on a case opened over slander against a World War II veteran, the court’s press secretary Alexandra Savelyeva told TASS.
"Navalny will be brought to the courtroom for personal participation in the session," she said.
According to the prosecution, Navalny on June 2 uploaded a video to Telegram and Twitter, in which World War II veteran Ignat Artyomenko expressed his civic position in support of amendments to the Constitution. Navalny made wittingly false comments harmful to the veteran’s honor and dignity and undermining his reputation, thus causing moral suffering to the veteran. Navalny does not recognize his guilt. The slander article envisages a fine or mandatory works.
Earlier, a court replaced Navalny’s suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one. He is kept at the detention center Matrosskaya Tishina.
