MOSCOW, July 4. /TASS/. Vladimir Solntsev, the head of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (RSC Energia) is to step down starting from August 3, corporation officials told TASS on Tuesday.
"Today, RSC Energia Director General Vladimir Solntsev has tendered a resignation, he is to leave his post starting from August 3, 2018," the sources said.
A rocket and space industry source told TASS that Sergei Romanov, the general designer of RSC Energia for manned space systems, will be appointed acting director.
The new director general will be appointed during an emergency shareholders’ meeting on August 21, an anonymous industry source said. Official Roscosmos sources were tight-lipped on when the new company head will be chosen.
Solntsev became the company’s president in September 2014. Since June 2016, he served as the company’s director general. Among notable events of his leadership is the deal to sell RSC Energia’s assets in the Sea Launch project to the S7 Space company.
