Africa’s representation in international organizations must be ensured — Putin

The Russian leader stressed that Africa’s role and significance are growing

MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. Representation for the countries of the African continent in international organizations must be ensured, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated.

He described the absence of African delegates among the permanent members of the UN Security Council as unjust.

"The world is changing, and Africa is changing; Africa’s role and significance are growing. As we have noted - and we fully agree with this - Africa’s role will only continue to increase. Naturally, Africa’s importance and its representation in universal international organizations must be ensured," Putin stated at the plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit.

He called for acting with caution in this matter "on the basis of a broad consensus, so as not to destroy what we already have."

"As of now, humanity has no other universal instrument at its disposal - within the international community - comparable to the UN Security Council or the United Nations itself," he concluded.
