MOSCOW, July 3. /TASS/. Moscow and Minsk have to tighten coordination and respond decisively to any attempts to undermine the Union State’s sovereignty and security, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in his congratulatory message to Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov marking Belarus’ Independence Day.
"In the context of the tense military and political situation in the world and the resurgence of neo-Nazism, which has begun a bloodthirsty hunt for our children, it is necessary to close ranks again and decisively repel any attempts to undermine the sovereignty and security of our Union State. At the same time, it is important to work with like-minded partners to form a new, more just architecture of equal and indivisible security on the Eurasian continent," Lavrov noted.
Lavrov emphasized that Russia is firmly committed to close foreign policy coordination with Belarusian allies and mutual support in advancing common interests in the global arena.
The Russian foreign minister thanked Ryzhenkov for his warm greetings on Russia Day and congratulated his Belarusian counterpart on Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.
"On the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, this holiday has particular significance not only for Belarusians, but also for Russians and other brotherly nations of the former Soviet Union, as it was on this remarkable day, July 3, 1944, that the multinational Red Army liberated Minsk from Nazi invaders. We will always cherish the memory of the unparalleled courage of the Soviet people, who, at the cost of enormous sacrifices, defended the freedom and independence of our common homeland and freed the world from the ‘brown plague’," the minister noted.
