Removing VK from App Store not to isolate Russian services — Foreign Ministry

No one should have any illusions that a significant part of the Western IT infrastructure is being used as an instrument of pressure, censorship and promotion of the political agenda of a dictatorial order, Maria Zakharova said

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Removing VK apps from the App Store will not affect the availability of Russian digital products, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"I will repeat for a third time - such steps will not be able to isolate Russian digital services. But they will again demonstrate to the whole world the true value of Western declarations about the freedom of speech, the open Internet and human words," she told a news briefing.

"Today, no one should have any illusions that a significant part of the Western IT infrastructure is being used as an instrument of pressure, censorship and promotion of the political agenda of a dictatorial order."

According to her, all "this American corporation will achieve by such actions is that millions of users will simply stop using the products of this brand. They will switch to more open, democratic, understandable, legitimate platforms."

VK earlier said that Apple had removed its apps from its store without explanation. The company said that the installed applications will continue to operate on Apple devices, but users will not receive pushes. VK also said it has never been under sanctions, which is confirmed by numerous conclusions of international and American lawyers.
