MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to hold a meeting with Ella Pamfilova, the re-elected chair of the Central Election Commission, soon, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Yes, he is planning to," he told TASS.
Pamfilova became Russia’s first Central Election Commission head to be re-elected for a third term.
Pamfilova has been heading the Central Election Commission since 2016. Prior to that, Alexander Veshnyakov and Vladimir Churov served two terms as chairmen, while Nikolay Ryabov, the first chairman of the Central Election Commission, and Alexander Ivanchenko, who succeeded him in 1996, each served one term.
Prior to joining the commission, Pamfilova served as chair of the Presidential Commission on Human Rights, head of the Presidential Council for the Promotion of Civil Society Institutions and Human Rights, and Commissioner for Human Rights. Besides, she was a USSR deputy, and a State Duma deputy of the first and second convocations.
