Humanitarian situation in Gorlovka harsh as Ukraine targets key infrastructure — DPR head

More than 80,000 users were left without power in Gorlovka on Tuesday morning due to the Ukrainian armed forces' shelling

DONETSK, November 20. /TASS/. The humanitarian situation in Gorlovka, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), remains complicated as Ukrainian servicemen have been targeting the city's critical infrastructure throughout the past week, DPR head Denis Pushilin said.

"The humanitarian situation in Gorlovka is still severe. Since November 13, the enemy has been targeting the city's critical infrastructure. <...> Due to daily shelling, over 63,000 citizens remain deprived of power. The lack of electricity and water has halted the operation of 42 boiler houses in the city. A total of 888 residential buildings in Gorlovka are without heat," Pushilin wrote.

He added that specialists are often not even able to reactivate the restored transformers or boiler houses in time as the enemy keeps shelling these facilities. "Together with the mayor and utility services, we are doing everything possible to supply light and heat to Gorlovka as soon as possible," the regional head concluded.

More than 80,000 users were left without power in Gorlovka on Tuesday morning due to the Ukrainian armed forces' shelling. The city authorities said that some of the halted boiler houses would be back online by the evening of November 19. Interruptions in heat and water supply, communications, and the Internet also began. Today, the headquarters for water supply has been operating in a round-the-clock mode. Within two days, the city authorities worked to install water tanks wherever possible.
