All DDoS attacks on Moscow’s online vote system rebuffed

According to the headquarters, more than 2.4 million people took part in the online voting in the first 13 hours

MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. Moscow’s online vote system rebuffed all DDoS attacks on the first day of voting in the Russian presidential election, Alexander Asafov, a deputy chairman of the Moscow election monitoring public headquarters, said.

"Online voting continues round-the-clock. Technical specialists say that DDoS attacks on the e-vote system were reported. <…> But in Moscow, all the attacks that were geared to interfere into the process of voting were repelled because the system is well-prepared. It was tested thanks to those who took part in the trials earlier," he said.

According to the headquarters, more than 2.4 million people took part in the online voting in the first 13 hours.

The Russian Federation Council, or upper house of parliament, officially designated March 17, 2024 as the day of the presidential election. The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) then announced that voting will take place over three days on March 15-17. Four candidates will vie for the top office, namely New People party nominee Vladislav Davankov; self-nominated candidate and incumbent President Vladimir Putin; Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) nominee Leonid Slutsky; and Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) nominee Nikolay Kharitonov.
