NEW YORK, April 3. /TASS/. France will consider it as an achievement if its president, Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to China, persuades China to urge Ukraine to engage in a long-term dialogue, the Bloomberg news agency cited a French official as saying.
According to the official, Macron does not expect Beijing to abandon close cooperation with Moscow, but he will try to find a common language with Chinese President Xi Jinping to search for joint solutions to the Ukrainian conflict. As the agency noted, the French leader also intends to warn China against military support for Russia.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chunying confirmed that Macron would pay a state visit to China on April 5-7. The French news agency France-Presse reported that the French president would seek to begin a process of mending relations after a long period of lack of personal contact due to the coronavirus pandemic. Macron and Xi last met on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Indonesia. The French president's last visit to Beijing was in January 2018.
