CARACAS, June 25. /TASS/. The Venezuelan Foundation of Seismological Research (Funvisis) recorded at least ten aftershocks in the country following a powerful earthquake on June 24, the El Nacional newspaper reported.
According to it, the majority of the aftershocks occurred in the states of La Guaira and Miranda, measuring magnitudes from 2.4 to 4.5.
A large earthquake struck Venezuela on the evening of June 24. Two series of tremors measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded within 40 seconds of each other. Their epicenters were located in the state of Yaracuy, ten kilometers apart. According to Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, at least 32 people were killed and another 700 were injured. Dozens of buildings were destroyed. Venezuelan authorities declared a state of emergency. The government designated the coastal state of La Guaira as a disaster zone.
