Cargo tanks of tanker in Ust-Luga port not damaged after blast, no casualties — regulator

Rosmorrechflot noted that authorized services are investigating the incident

MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Cargo tanks of foreign tanker Koala in the Ust-Luga port in Russia’s Leningrad region were not damaged as a result of explosion, there was no cargo spill or oil leak, the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia (Rosmorrechflot) reported.

"This morning, on tanker Koala, docked in the Ust-Luga port in the Leningrad region, while preparing to operate the main engine - according to preliminary data - an explosion occurred in the engine room, due to which the crew was forced to evacuate to shore. Cargo tanks of the vessel were not damaged, the incident did not result in a cargo spill or oil leak, none of the crew members were injured," the report says.

Rosmorrechflot noted that authorized services are investigating the incident.
