Russia working on financial mechanisms for cooperation with Latin America — Ministry

Such approaches are discussed with regional partners in bilateral and multilateral formats, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Russia is working out introduction of financial mechanisms being the alternative to Western ones for mitigation of sanction risks in trade and economic cooperation with Latin America, official spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at the briefing on Wednesday.

"We are consistently working on introduction of financial mechanisms being the alternative to Western ones for purposes of mitigating sanction risks for implementation of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Latin America. These are cashless payments and establishing direct correspondent relations between banks. We are taking a range of other steps in this area," the spokeswoman said.

Such approaches are discussed "with regional partners in bilateral and multilateral formats, including down the line of interfacing interests of Eurasian and Latin American integration spaces," Zakharova said. "We are in a frank and confident contact with heads of diplomatic missions of Latin American states accredited in Moscow. This is a characteristic signature line of our cooperation," she added.
