Pobeda low-cost airline suspends flights abroad from March 8 — company

Earlier, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, recommended all national air carriers to significantly reduce their number of scheduled international flights

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. Pobeda low-cost airline, a member of the Russian Aeroflot group, suspends all its international flights from March 8 in compliance with recommendations of the Federal Air Transport Agency, the airline said in a statement.

"Low-cost carrier Pobeda, in accordance with the recommendation of the Federal Air Transport Agency, suspends international flights from March 8, 2022 until the end of the winter flight schedule. Pobeda Airlines is doing everything possible for early refunding for tickets for canceled flights," the airline says.

The low-cost airline specified that from March 6, it will no longer let customers with a round-trip ticket fly if the return flight is scheduled for a date after March 8.

"Customers of international flights with one-way tickets departing from the Russian Federation will be transported until March 8," the company added.

Situation with international flights

Earlier on Saturday, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, recommended all national air carriers to significantly reduce their number of scheduled international flights.

The agency recommended national air companies, which have registered aircraft on the lease with foreign companies, to suspend their international flights starting March 6 and to put on hold flights from abroad starting March 8.

On February 26, the EU Council banned the sale and supply, including leasing, of aircraft and spare parts for them for Russian airlines, as well as the provision of any insurance or reinsurance services for these aircraft and their maintenance, due to the situation in Ukraine. Currently, Russian airlines often face attempts to arrest aircraft on international flights, even on export flights.

Earlier, Aeroflot, S7 and Smartavia stopped flights abroad.

During the pandemic, Russia completely closed international flights. The Pobeda low-cost airline then decided to suspend all flights for two months.
