Russian peacekeepers help five more refugees leave Rukban camp in Syria

More than 4,300 people crossed Syria’s border from Lebanon

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. Russian peacekeepers have helped five more refugees leave the Rukban camp in the al-Tanf area, where the humanitarian situation is on the edge of catastrophe, Oleg Ignasyuk, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian defense ministry), said.

"The Russian reconciliation center once again draws attention to the difficult humanitarian situation in the Rukban refugee camp located in the US-occupied al-Tanf area. Thanks to the efforts Syria’s authorities and the Russian reconciliation center, five refugees (one man, two women, and two children) left the camp," he said.

He also said that more than 4,300 people crossed Syria’s border from Lebanon via the checkpoints of Al-Arida, Al-Jawasiyeh, Al-Dabousiyah, Jisr Qamar, and Jdaidet Yabous during the day.

According to Ignasyuk, aircraft of the so-called international anti-terrorist coalition led by the United States continue to create dangerous situations that may cause air accidents or incidents and escalate the situation in Syria’s airspace. "A pair of the coalition’s F-15 fighter jets (seven times), a pair of F-16 fighter jets and a pair of A-10 Thunderbolt attack bombers violated Syria’s airspace in the al-Tanf area, across which international air routes run, 18 times during the day," he said.
