Russian security chief points to global revival of biological weapons

There are clear signs of dangerous pathogens being used with military and political aims, Nikolai Patrushev noted

MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. The global revival of biological weapons has already begun, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.

"There are clear signs of dangerous pathogens being used with military and political aims. Essentially, we are witnessing a revival of biological weapons," he said on Thursday during the Moscow Conference on International Security.

According to Patrushev, the issue of biological security is not limited to the fight against COVID-19. There are other epidemiological threats. "In this context, the global community needs to take note that the locations of dangerous disease outbreaks coincide with the locations of foreign biological labs of certain states. Their activity is top secret, and it causes the states, where these objects are located, to lose their sovereignty in the sphere of biosecurity," Patrushev stated.
