Armando Mema clarified that by continuing attacks on Russia, Vladimir Zelensky is "openly challenging Trump," and that the US leader could "become furious over rising oil prices"

STOCKHOLM, November 1. /TASS/. Failure to comply with the US administration’s demands could have serious consequences for Vladimir Zelensky, Armando Mema, a member of the Freedom Alliance national conservative party, stated.

"Ukraine depends entirely on Western support, [and] going against the US administration guidelines might have terrible consequences for Zelensky," the politician wrote in a post on his X page.

Mema clarified that by continuing attacks on Russia, Zelensky is "openly challenging Trump," and that the US leader could "become furious over rising oil prices."

On Trump-Zelensky relations

According to The Wall Street Journal, the relationship between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky began to deteriorate after a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September, during which the US leader demanded an explanation from Zelensky on the strikes on Russian oil refineries. Since that meeting, the newspaper noted, Washington has asked Kiev six times to stop the strikes, and Trump’s attitude toward Zelensky has grown increasingly negative.

On October 10, amid Zelensky's criticism of the agreement between Moscow and Washington on the supply of Russian diesel fuel, Trump stated that elections must be held in Ukraine. He also opined that Zelensky could have ended the conflict with Russia many times, but chooses not to do so. Zelensky refused to hold elections and noted that Kiev is losing an important partner in Washington. According to The Wall Street Journal, the US leader’s remarks indicate relations with Zelensky have reached their lowest point since last winter.
