BEIRUT, December 13. /TASS/. Kurdish militia units of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition are ready to join the country's future armed forces, Al-Arabiya quoted SDF spokesman Farhad Shami as saying.
"We are ready for dialogue with the current authorities in Damascus and want the Syrian state to represent all citizens fairly," he said. "Reaching a political solution will allow Kurdish units to become part of the Syrian army in the future," the spokesman pointed out.
Earlier, the Kurdish autonomous administration in the town of Qamishli decided to hoist the flags of the new Syrian authorities over institutions in the SDF-controlled provinces of Raqqa and Hasakeh, as well as in the northeastern province of Deir ez-Zor. According to the SDF statement, "such a move confirms the will of all Syrians for national unity.
The Kurds control 25% of Syria's territory, and their positions are now being attacked by brigades of the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army. On December 9, they managed to recapture the town of Manbij north of Aleppo from Kurdish forces.
