Pentagon says Russia could fire Oreshnik missile at Ukraine again within days

According to Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, the potential strike will not make a strategic impact on the conflict in Ukraine

WASHINGTON, December 11. /TASS/. Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said Russia could fire its hypersonic Oreshnik missile at Ukrainian in the next few days.

"It's possible that Russia could do it in the coming days. I don't have an exact date for you," he told reporters, when asked a question on the subject.

According to Singh, the potential strike will not make a strategic impact on the conflict in Ukraine. She said Russia uses the weapon for the sole purpose of intimidating Ukraine. Washington and its allies will continue to provide comprehensive support to Kiev, the spokeswoman said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 21 that Russia responded to attacks on its military sites in the Kursk and Bryansk regions by firing its newest Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile with a non-nuclear warhead at Ukraine’s Yuzhmash defense industry plant in the city of Dnepr. According to the Russian president, the West could bring upon itself heavy consequences, should its inflammatory policies prompt further escalation of the conflict.
