UNITED NATIONS, May 26. /TASS/. China doesn’t consider the US-initiated draft resolution of the United Nations Security Council on sanctions against North Korea as useful and suggests a UNSC presidential statement be adopted first, the press service of China’s mission to the United Nations said on Wednesday.
According to the Chinese mission, this resolution will not be able to resolve any problem. It said that China’s proposal to pass a presidential statement was supported by many delegations but was ignored by the United States.
The United Nations Security Council will hold a meeting on North Korea on Thursday. Voting on a US draft resolution calling for tougher sanctions against Pyongyang is expected to be held, Reuters said citing an administration official.
According to Seoul, North Korea test launched three ballistic missiles on Wednesday. One of them, according to the South Korean military, was an intercontinental missile, the two others were short-range missiles. The launch of one short-range missile was probably abortive. In response to Pyongyang’s tests, two missiles, one South Korean and one American, were launched toward the Sea of Japan.
