Russian deconfliction mechanism with Israel in Syria continues to work — diplomat

According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, contacts happen at the highest level

KAZAN, May 19. /TASS/. The deconfliction mechanism between Russia and Israel in Syria in Syria continues to operate, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on the sidelines of a summit in Kazan.

"Everything works, of course," he said, when asked about deconfliction by TASS. "Contacts happen on the political level also, at the highest level, and there are phone talks and at the level of foreign ministries."

The deputy minister said he held a meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi the day before. "Our ambassador has active communication with Israeli leadership and representatives of the public and political community," Bogdanov said. "In addition, our military are at work as well. There are military attache offices at the Russian embassy in Tel Aviv and the Israeli embassy in Moscow. So work is going on."

Bogdanov made the comments at the Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022 international conference, which brought together representatives of 63 countries and 52 Russian regions. It’s happening in Kazan from May 19-21 and is aimed at reinforcing ties between Russia and the Islamic world.
