IOC’s Bach says had no contacts with officials on Russia’s participation in 2024 Olympics

"I have not talked to the minister, or his advisor, or to the national Olympic committee," Thomas Bach said

PARIS, March 20. /TASS/. The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach said he did not talk to the Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matitsyn and the Russian Olympic Committee regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympics.

"No, I have not talked to the minister, or his advisor, or to the national Olympic committee," Bach said during a press conference.

On October 12, 2023, the IOC suspended the ROC until further notice because of the inclusion of DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions’ Olympic councils into the Russian national committee. The suspension implies that the ROC will not be able to function as the national Olympic committee and receive funding from the Olympic movement.
