Head coach of Russian rhythmic gymnastics sanctioned with two-year suspension

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. The Gymnastics Ethics Foundation Disciplinary Commission Panel has suspended President of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Viner from the participation in international competitions for two years, the press service of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) said on Monday.

"Ms Viner-Usmanova is not allowed to participate nor receive accreditation for any role at an international competition, including but not limited to acting as coach, head of delegation or other official role at an international competition in any FIG sanctioned event or competition organized by an affiliated FIG member federation for a period two years which shall start one (1) day after the FIG protective measures linked to the Russia- Ukraine war are lifted, assuming that the FIG protective measures linked to the Russia-Ukraine war are lifted within five (5) years from the date of the present Decision," the statement said.

On February 26, 2022, the press-service of the FIG informed that the Russian and Belorussian athletes have the right to compete under the aegis of the organization only in neutral status. On March 4 of the same year, the federation banned athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete at tournaments under its auspices, citing the situation in Ukraine.
