Russian deputy PM orders to immediately dismantle collapsed section of Crimea bridge

Marat Khusnullin stressed that the timeframe of the bridge’s reconstruction will be announced after the instrumental survey

MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin has ordered to start dismantling without delay the collapsed section of the Crimea bridge, the government said in a statement on Saturday after the emergency site was inspected.

"He [Khusnullin] pointed out that the top priority task is to rebuild the barrier fences, and also ordered to immediately begin dismantling the collapsed section" the statement said.

The deputy prime minister stressed that the timeframe of the bridge’s reconstruction will be announced after the instrumental survey, which will be conducted within the next 24 hours. After that, the physical load is planned to be checked.

On Saturday morning, a truck exploded on the Crimea bridge, setting on fire the fuel tanks of a freight train running near along its rail part. Three people were killed and two eastbound sections of the bridge’s road part collapsed. A government commission chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin was set up after the accident. Rail traffic restarted on the bridge, which was also partly reopened for buses and automobiles.
