Almost all gas stations near Naples run out of gasoline amid protests by truck drivers

ANSA cited reports of price gouging at gas stations where gasoline and diesel are being sold for 4 euros per liter, nearly double the average price of just over 2 euros

ROME, October 23. /TASS/. Some 95% of gas stations in the area around Naples have run out of fuel due to supply disruptions caused by a strike by truck drivers and road blockades, the ANSA news agency reported.

This put medical transport services and waste collection at risk. There have also been reports of price gouging at gas stations where gasoline and diesel are being sold for 4 euros per liter, which is nearly double the average price of just over 2 euros. The local prosecutor's office has not ruled out that mafia organizations are involved in obstructing the delivery of goods.

More than a week ago transport operators began staging protests by blocking highways in southern Italy and on the island of Sicily to express their opposition to the high cost of fuel.
