MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian airline Red Wings has received additional security mandates from Israeli aviation authorities following a recent incident involving a Flydubai flight, the airline's press service told TASS. The carrier will continue its operations to Israel as its crew selection and training protocols fully comply with the new rules, the press service added.
"Following the Flydubai incident, we received additional requirements from the Israeli aviation authorities. Our airline's crew selection and training system fully complies with the new regulations. Red Wings will continue to operate flights to Israel in full," the company said in a statement.
Red Wings noted that the carrier, alongside the broader Russian aviation industry, enforces stringent flight safety standards. Special emphasis is placed on the vetting and training of pilots and flight crews. "We strictly adhere to the established standards," the press service added.
On September 30, a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, due to an onboard security incident. On October 1, the Saudi Ministry of Interior confirmed that the diversion was triggered by a co-pilot attacking the captain, leaving both injured. The ministry specified that once cleared by medical staff, both pilots flew to Abu Dhabi accompanied by Emirati security officials, while the remaining six crew members had already returned safely to Dubai. UAE authorities are continuing their investigation into the root causes, including a comprehensive review of screening and security measures.
