MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) units in the special military operation zone in Ukraine have received Spektr-K video receivers designed to operate at frequencies above 12 GHz, the press service of the developer, Sector JSC, reported.
It said that the device operates at frequencies that are beyond the reach of electronic warfare systems.
"Spektr-K video receivers designed to operate on ‘invincible’ frequencies have begun arriving in the special military operation zone, enabling stable signal reception in areas where electronic warfare systems are currently absent. The device consists of a proven Spektr receiver paired with an analog converter. The converter handles the lower range; together, they provide reception from 1,000 to 12,000+ MHz. It is precisely this expanded range that allows operation in areas where jammers (devices that create radio interference to block wireless communications) simply do not exist and are not currently expected to appear," the statement reads.
According to the developers, the upper limit of the reception frequency range is considerably broader than the officially stated range; however, "the exact values are being deliberately withheld." Sector also noted that before being deployed to the special military operation zone, Spektr-K was tested at the Rubicon Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies.
"The device can be tuned to any arbitrary frequency, without being tied to ‘frequency grids’ or ‘standard channels.’ If a signal exists in principle, the receiver will work with it. A full scan of the band with RSSI display takes less than 12 seconds, which gives the operator a comprehensive picture of the airwaves," the press service noted. The device features a superheterodyne circuit with double conversion (splitting the signal into two intermediate frequencies), which "ensures stable operation amid interference and minimizes the impact of mirror channels."
"The receiver is versatile: it captures video signals from any analog drone - whether friendly or enemy - which also makes it an effective tool for intercepting video imagery as part of electronic intelligence systems. In addition, the device can be easily integrated into virtually any ground control station in place of the standard video receiver," Sector added.
Sector JSC is a developer and manufacturer of Russian specialized equipment for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles. The company’s products are used by both military and civilian UAV operators.
