Sultan of Oman arrives at Kremlin to meet with Putin

The visit is timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said has arrived at the Kremlin, where he will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time, a TASS correspondent reports.

Putin and Al Said are expected to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Muscat, including trade and economic ties, financial and investment collaboration, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges. The agenda also includes pressing international issues, with the Iranian nuclear program potentially coming up, as Oman has been hosting several rounds of talks between Washington and Tehran on the matter.

The visit is timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1985). According to the Oman News Agency, the head of state is accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, President of the Oman Investment Authority Abdul Salam Al Murshidi, and other senior officials.
