MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. The minerals agreement between the United States and Ukraine will be open-ended and will not include any security guarantees, according to Verkhovna Rada member Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who has seen the document.
"The agreement will remain in effect indefinitely. Any changes or termination of the agreement can only occur with American consent. They hold the right of 'first refusal' on all new infrastructure projects and possess the authority to veto the sale of resources to other countries," he stated on his Telegram channel.
Zheleznyak emphasized that the agreement contained "absolutely no provisions regarding security guarantees, not even a hint."
The legislator also indicated that the 58-page document dated March 23 is "not final" yet. Zheleznyak expressed hope that the Ukrainian side will advocate for several changes. "The text I saw is terrible. This is a significant and very clear deal, and it is not in our favor," he emphasized.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky stated that the United States had provided Ukraine with the complete text of a major minerals agreement. The Ukrainian side is currently reviewing and discussing the document, after which it will be submitted to the Rada for ratification.
