WASHINGTON, March 21. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said he liked the idea of a "secret offer" from UK’s King Charles III.
"I love King Charles. Sounds good to me!" the US leader wrote on his Truth Social page, accompanying the post with a link to The Sun article. The newspaper pointed out that during Trump's potential state visit to the United Kingdom, Charles III could propose that the United States become a member of the British Commonwealth, an interstate association that includes the United Kingdom and almost all of its former colonies, dominions and protectorates.
The idea had already surfaced during Trump's first term as president, but was not acted upon at the time.
On February 27, during a meeting with Trump in Washington, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer handed him a letter from King Charles III inviting the US leader to make a second state visit to the United Kingdom. Trump accepted the invitation. According to him, the visit could take place in the near future. The Sky News TV channel suggested that Trump could visit the UK early next year.
