WASHINGTON, March 19. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has said that his telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Tuesday was not the only one held in recent weeks.
"It was a very good call," Trump told the Washington Examiner. "I think it’s the beginning of something good. The beginning really took place three or four weeks ago. You know, I’ve spoken to Putin over — this isn’t just a call that began it. We’ve had other calls," he added.
In response to a question, the US president confirmed that it had not been made public before. "No, but this is a continuation of positive," Trump said, adding: "If it was not positive, I’d tell you."
Putin and Trump held a phone call on March 18, discussing the idea of a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, ways to prevent a further escalation of tensions and a number of international issues. The Russian leader supported the US president’s initiative for an energy and infrastructure ceasefire in Ukraine.
