DOHA, March 18. /TASS/. Israel has notified the mediators in the Gaza ceasefire deal that it is no longer sticking to the agreement, the Al Arabiya television channel said, citing its sources.
"Israel notified the mediators about its refusal from the ceasefire [in the Gaza Strip] as of today," the sources said, adding that amid the resumed bombardments of the enclave, the mediators are renewing efforts to stop the hostilities immediately in exchange for the release of some of the hostages held by Hamas in the enclave.
Thus, Egypt is in intensive consultations with Qatar and the United States to halt the conflict’s escalation. According to Al Arabiya’s sources, the Egyptian side has invited Hamas representatives to meet in Cairo to discuss the current situation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on March 18 that a series of strikes had been delivered on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Barak Ravid, a reporter for the US news website Axios, wrote on the X social media platform, citing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, that Israel had resumed military operations against Hamas in the Palestinian enclave. According to the latest data provided by the Al Arabiya TV channel, the death toll has exceeded 400, while more than 1,000 people have been injured.
