WASHINGTON, March 1. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has said that a ceasefire in Ukraine could take place immediately.
"That was the other thing he [Vladimir Zelensky] didn't want to do about ceasefire," Trump told reporters when commenting on his meeting with Zelensky in the White House. "A ceasefire could take place immediately," he noted.
"If you want to end the war, you sign up an agreement that's going to take a period of time. It takes time. I want it to end immediately. And I think if you had a ceasefire, it would be a cease fire, a real one that would end it. But he doesn't want to do that," he said.
Earlier on Friday, Zelensky met with Trump at the White House. Their televised exchange suddenly unraveled into a shouting match, with Trump scolding Zelensky for being disrespectful to the US, and Vice President JD Vance saying that Zelensky had never thanked the country for all the support provided to Kiev. A news conference scheduled to follow the meeting was canceled, and the Ukrainian delegation left the White House earlier than planned.
