WASHINGTON, January 20. /TASS/. Developing stable and responsible relations with Russia and China will be the key task of the second administration of US President Donald Trump, a US expert who asked not to be named said in an interview with TASS.
According to the expert, "The highest task of American foreign policy in the coming years is to establish a sustainable, responsible framework for engaging and competing with Russia and China, the world's other two great powers. Many of the administration's stated priorities, such as consolidating America's role in the transatlantic relationship, are driven by this overarching imperative of adapting US statecraft to an era of renewed great power politics."
"There is little question that the administration inherits a more dangerous and volatile world than the one Trump encountered entering his first term. The administration's success will hinge on its ability to pragmatically navigate what is the most difficult geopolitical landscape for the US since the end of the Cold War. The Trump team's key role in brokering the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas demonstrates the kind of initiative and persistence that this moment calls for, but many of the challenges that lie ahead will be even more complex, with less room for maneuver," the expert noted.
Republican Donald Trump was sworn in as 47th President of the United States on January 20. He won the elections on November 5, 2024, beating the Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris.
