US allegations on China’s support of Russian military-industrial complex are groundless

"Normal trade between China and Russia is aboveboard, in line with WTO [World Trade Organization] rules and market principles, and is not targeted at any third party," Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the United States said

WASHINGTON, December 19. /TASS/. The United States’ claims regarding alleged deliveries of dual-use products from China to Russia, including in the interests of the Russian military-industrial complex, are groundless and also demonstrate the hypocrisy and double standards of the US administration, Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the United States told TASS.

"Normal trade between China and Russia is aboveboard, in line with WTO [World Trade Organization] rules and market principles, and is not targeted at any third party," the Chinese diplomat said commenting on Pentagon’s annual report to the US Congress regarding China’s military capabilities.

"The United States provides unprecedented military assistance to Ukraine while making groundless accusations against normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Russia. This is a typical double standard, extremely hypocritical, and extremely irresponsible," he added.

According to Liu, "China has always taken a cautious and responsible attitude in military exports and strictly controlled the export of dual-use items."

"China has always been committed to promoting peace and dialogue, but we will not take the blame, let alone pay for the actions of others. We will firmly defend our legitimate rights and interests," the Chinese diplomat added.

The US Department of Defense (DoD) stated in its report that China is guided by the desire to maintain close ties with Russia, despite the pressure of the collective West on Moscow and its partners over the special military operation in Ukraine.

The document from the DoD also stated that China keeps supplying Russia with dual-purpose products, including those used by the defense industry, and that such trade is still kept at a large-scale level.
