German minister says Israel has no excuse for hampering aid deliveries to Gaza

According to the German politician, Israel now must fulfil its promises and guarantee sufficient humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip at any time

BERLIN, December 1. /TASS/. Israel has no excises to hamper humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, German Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office Tobias Linder said.

"Today, we badly need an agreement on the release of hostages and an immediate ceasefire. Fierce fighting must come to an end and the blockade of the norther Gaza Strip is to be lifted," the German foreign ministry quoted him as ahead of his visit to Egypt.

According to the German politician, Israel now must fulfil its promises and guarantee sufficient humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip at any time. "There is no justification for this. Israel’s right to self-defense should stay within the frames of humanitarian law," he stressed.

At the same time, he called for launching a political process that would include ‘Palestine’s role in the Gaza Strip and that would result in an agreement on settling the conflict on the two-state basis."

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
