UK follows EU’s suit, imposes sanctions against Iranian drone maker

The restrictive measures include entry ban and freezing of assets and apply to Iranian General Staff head Major General Mohammad Bagheri

LONDON, October 20. /TASS/. The UK imposed sanctions against Iranian drone maker Shahed Aviation Industries, as well as a number of high-ranking Iranian defense officials after the EU made a similar decision, according to the updated sanctions list on the British government website.

The restrictive measures include entry ban and freezing of assets (should such be discovered) and apply to Iranian General Staff head Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Head of the Supply and Logistics Division of the Iranian Ministry of Defence Seyed Hojjatollah Qureishi, and Head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force UAV command Saeed Aghajani.

Earlier on Thursday, UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace claimed that Iran ships drones to Russia. Meanwhile, Iranian Permanent Representative to the UN Saeed Iravani noted earlier that Iran categorially denies all allegations of handing over drones to Russia for use in the Ukrainian conflict. Such claims were also denied by Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.
