TEL AVIV, April 29. /TASS/. Israeli police used riot control weapons in order to suppress disturbances near the Al-Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Friday morning, the Kan radio station reported.

According to the radio station, during the clashes, hundreds of rioters set off fireworks and threw stones at the police officers, who in response used tear gas and rubber bullets. Citing Palestinian medical services, the radio station reported that at least ten Arabs were injured in the morning clashes. According to Kan, several masked rioters raised a flag of the Hamas radical movement.

"Hundreds of rioters initiated violent riots on the Al-Aqsa compound this morning, throwing stones and setting off firecrackers. Police were forced to enter the compound to disperse the violent crowd and to enable worshipers to leave safely," the press service of Israel’s Foreign Ministry reported.

Kan said that law enforcement in Jerusalem is on high alert on the last Friday of Ramadan. The situation in Jerusalem’s Old City aggravated on April 15 after a group of Jewish worshipers visited the Temple Mount.
