Explosion hits Baku nightclub, killing at least one and injuring over 30

According to the preliminary version, the explosion was caused by a gas leak

BAKU, April 3. /TASS/. At least one person was killed and more than 30 people sustained injuries in an explosion at one of the night clubs in the Azerbaijan’s capital, according to a statement by the republic’s Prosecutor General’s office on Sunday.

"On April 3, about 03:00 (02:00 Moscow time - TASS), an explosion occurred in a night club on Tarlan Aliyarbekov street in the Sabail district of the city of Baku. <...> According to preliminary information, as a result of the incident, one person was killed, another 31 individuals sustained physical injuries of various degree of severity," the statement said.

The representatives of the office of the Prosecutor General, the Interior Ministry, the Emergencies Ministry and other agencies are working at the site of the incident.

According to the Health Ministry’s press service, 24 people were hospitalized with six of them in severe condition. Seven of those injured were discharged after receiving first aid.

According to the preliminary version, the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
