Post-Soviet bloc leaders agree to boost mutual supplies of weapons

The declaration stated that the bloc confirmed the policy towards strengthening the defense potentials of the member countries

ASTANA, November 8./TASS/. The leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member countries have agreed to boost mutual supplies of weapons, says a CSTO declaration.

"We express strong determination to jointly develop the defense-industrial sectors of our countries through increasing the amounts of mutual supplies of arms, military and special hardware and rendering services in that sector, through establishing close cooperation ties between defense enterprises and organizations, as well as through expanding scientific-technical cooperation," the document said.

Besides, the CSTO Collective Security Council confirmed the policy towards strengthening the defense potentials of the member countries. The parties also emphasized the importance of the Collective Security Council session decisions to improve military training of the CSTO troops, update the structure and the composition of the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force and the systems of its control. Special focus was on equipping these forces with state-of-the-art arms and military hardware, as well enhancing the efficiency of joint exercises.

The declaration emphasized the importance of supporting efforts and initiatives aimed to ensure the integrity of multi-lateral mechanisms of nonproliferation, disarmament and arms control, strengthening the influence of related international organizations. "We consistently come out against any attempts to politicize the activity of these inter-state structures," the document stressed.
