DONETSK, May 20. /TASS/. A family sheltered an astray injured Russian serviceman from Ukrainian troops for several months in the western part of the Donetsk region, one of the family members told TASS.
As the woman who rescued the soldier said, the fighter got lost and stumbled upon the settlement of Rasliv, occupied by the Ukrainian army.
"At about 7 a.m. I heard someone knocking at our door. I opened the door and saw a young man wearing a military uniform and holding a machine gun. He asked me where he had come to. To the village of Razliv, I told him. Then he asked for a glass of water, so we gave him some water, fed and clothed him. This man was unable to walk properly as he was wounded in his foot. So, we would pull out the shards, bandage him and treat his injury. And that's how he stayed with us," the woman said.
The fighter came from the neighboring settlement of Razdolnoye, she specified. He was injured by a mine explosion. "He was lucky to knock on our door instead of the one next to our house," the woman added.
The thing was that Ukrainian soldiers lived just one house away, she said. Sometimes they would drop in on their neighbors under various pretexts. "We would go out and talk with them, then they walked out. Meanwhile this guy would sit in the basement, quiet as a mouse," the woman added.
The fighter's uniform was buried along with his shoes in the house yard, while he was dressed as a civilian.
The Russian soldier spent almost half a year with the host family, then they all left the house, as it was destroyed in numerous drone strikes. Later, the fighter helped bring the family to the rear area.
