BANGKOK, March 29. /TASS/. Moscow is actively cooperating with countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and will continue developing relations with them, Sergey Cheremin, a minister in the Moscow city government and director of the city’s foreign economic and international relations department, said after his visit to Bangkok.
"We are actively cooperating with ASEAN countries, for instance, with the Philippines. I am glad that the visit to Manila by a Moscow delegation in January 2023 resulted in an initial cooperation program being signed, which has already yielded concrete economic and cultural projects. Today, both parties are benefiting from them," he said.
Apart from that, according to Cheremin, Moscow plans to resume dialogue and send an official delegation there this year. "This country is very interesting from the point of view of using innovative solutions in all areas of mega-city management," he noted.
"We are planning a visit to Vietnam, since we have not organized large-scale events in Hanoi for quite a long time. During a recent meeting with the Vietnamese ambassador, we discussed prospects for cooperation both with the capital city and with Ho Chi Minh City as one of the country’s business agglomerations playing a major role in its economic development," he said. "We want to open up a new page in relations with Laos. We have already received an invitation to visit Vientiane, so it will be a kind of a milestone event for us, since our capitals haven’t had much communication up to now."
He also said that the Moscow city government wants to develop cooperation with Kuala Lumpur. Apart from that, a Moscow city delegation will visit Myanmar this year, he said, adding that Naypyidaw shows interest in Moscow’s expertise in urban infrastructure.
