MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. The vast majority of polled Russians - 88% - opined that there are organization working in Ukraine that adhere to Nazi ideology and that threaten Russia, says Mikhail Mamonov, head of the political analysis division of the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM). According to Mamonov, the poll took place on April 18 and covered 1,600 adult respondents.
"The vast majority - 88% - of respondents stated that there are organizations in Ukraine that adhere to the ideology of Nazism. It is important that this view is dominant across all age categories. Which means that this opinion has been formed and expressed; representative of different social groups understand the depth of this matter equally sharply," Mamonov said during a round table at the Social Research Expert Institute (EISI).
According to the official, only 4% of respondents doubted this statement.
He noted that this issue is not only political in nature, but personal as well.
"76% of respondents stated that Ukrainian Nazi organizations pose threat for Russia and Russian citizens. Only 14% of respondents believe that there is no such threat. Therefore, we see that the problem is on people’s minds, the issue is highly important and has personal angle - security of the country and security of the people," Mamonov said.
According to the official, 70% of respondents said that Ukrainian authorities support the Nazi organizations.
"There is also a group (14%) who believe that Ukrainian authorities do not notice the presence of such organizations. Therefore, over 80% of respondents are concerned over this issue, consider it important and not the negative role of Ukrainian authorities in the existence of such organizations," Mamonov said, adding that 8% of respondents believe that Ukrainian authorities do not support the Nazi organizations.
According to the poll, the majority of respondents (45%) expect that the special military operation in Ukraine will end in a tribunal over "Ukrainian Nazis for the crimes that they committed." Other popular option include: Ukraine’s abolition of NATO membership aspirations, declaration of neutral status, recognition of LPR and DPR, and cementing of non-nuclear status.
